No one can spend the entire day paying attention to a radio broadcast, even if the station is playing excellent songs or if there is an interesting show to follow. A better idea is to record the broadcast and play it later. StreamRipStar can help you record any online radio stream. It allows you to play and organize countless radio streams and record them with a single click. This Java-based application is lightweight, but it still provides enough features to satisfy all your needs.

StreamRipStar uses only 2.46 MB of disk space. It is written in Java, so you can use it on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux or other operating systems, if they provide support for Java. Besides that, you don't have to go through an installation process.

The user interface should not present any challenges for anyone, due to its simplicity. StreamRipStar comes with its own streams library, which can be explored on a separate window. You can play or record the selected streams right away or save them on the main interface.

The software allows you to add your own streams as well. You can type its name and paste its URL on a tabbed window, on which you can make many other configurations. When adding a new radio stream, you can set up its maximum rip length and size, select various overwriting or renaming rules, specify code sets for metadata, relay stream, id3 tags and much more.

To record one or more radio stations, you just need to select them and hit the Start button, located on a toolbar. Alternatively, you can set up a schedule and let the software record automatically, at a given time and date. You can also set StreamRipStar to record once, daily or weekly.

Pros

The software can record any radio stream, on demand or according to a schedule. You can manage radio stations on an explorer-like window and save them on the main interface. The application is lightweight, it doesn't need to be installed and you can use it on a USB flash drive if you want to.

Cons

You have to install an additional application before using StreamRipStar. With StreamRipStar, you will be able to listen to your favorite radio shows whenever you want.
